What do you like in an RPG?

Edited by Ragnos at 2015-4-15 09:09

I Ragnos have come to ask you.... What would you like in an RPG game. Dreadnought Interactive is currently working on Tower of Uso 2 and we have finished the Intro and are still working on the first floor (Which is huge btw). At the moment the game can go a billion different directions, and I wanted to ask what you guys would like to see in an RPG. Ideas, thoughts, anything goes. You opinion is valued. We have yet to design eneimes, weapons, items, heck we still are working on some new soundtracks, and some custom landscapes. So we would like some thoughts before we start to go full assault with the production of the game.

Check out the games progress at The Dreadnought

- levels/sub-stories/enemies based on main character type
- weapons/items meaningful to a particular character
- allies/group formation
- character progression map again based on the character
- a very easy and structured inventory
- lots of amazing farming options
- more character attack animations
- one helluva beta test team :D

-graphics is secondary

Alright, We will take this into consideration. Though the Beta test for the second game will be a closed beta. Sign ups for it began last week on our website, only 5 people will be able to beta test it.

1. usually at RPG games, it is not only battles, but there are interaction between main character and his/her partners, or conflict between them sometime in the story, story about the past (darker past is best;P), etc..

2. gameplay : need additional features that are interesting but with balanced amount of difficulties, example: doing some quest and get some rewards, syntesize, arena, grid map (like our bleach soul map where you can make your character stronger), minigames, etc
or when you begin the game, you could set the game difficulties: easy , normal and hard mode. each players free to choose their own preferences of game difficulties

3. graphics: nice character designs, comfortable to see surroundings, various kinds of small emoticons, change of emotions for characters

4. even is the story is really good, but with difficult-to-master battle system (too complicated or something), or got to fight really OP opponents and bosses everytime (not balanced to player's team), i wouldnt bother to play them more than 10mins ;P
because battle is the essence of RPG, interesting battle makes RPG good as well
5.  if bgm music is crap/too boring:sleepy:, all i have to do is to mute them all the time, or not play them at all. you should make bgm different at each location -> every town maps, shops, dungeon, grassland/ mountains, headquarter,

if you want to be better:
battle bgm at each location should be different -> dungeon, grassland, volcano, etc
make each boss battle's battle bgm different, or you might want to associate boss battle in a melody similar to that location's normal battle but have some tension in them

This is great. Thanks for the suggestions. We will be getting a new music program soon and hopefully we can get some better music going.

The partner communication will be implemented as well as a system were ever choice you make will have consequences.
