Dodge and block question
I had a question about the mechanics behind block and dodge- Lets say we have a character with 25% block chanche and 25% dodge chance.
- Let us say we did 100 battles
Will the outcome be :
A. 50 normal hits, 25 block , 25 dodge
B. 56 normal hits, 22 block, 22 dodge
c. 56 normal hits, 19,6 block, 25 dodge
D 56 normal hits, 25 block, 19,6 dodge
E.. something else please explain.
I am asking this question, because you can not dodge and block at the same time. So you would say there would be some kind of overlap? And than an intresting question would be, is dodge or block dominant over the other, or when both block and dodge occur does it get rerolled to decide the winner? good question, i would also like to knew mechanics. but what i can state for sure is that: block > dodge Edited by Masqurane at 2015-5-2 08:15
It occurs randomly, both cant occur at same time
dodging or blocking does not depends just on ur stats it depends on opponents hit and break def also so it varies from opponent to opponent
dodge is better for pvp
block is better for pvm ( in ryoka and evilspirit having block may give u some xtra damge)
dodge can be counterd easier than block in pvp
dodge can be counterd with hit (u can increase hit by refines and sprit stones)
Block can be countered by increasing breakdefence which is available through stones only
so chances of block working is more since u cant refine against block
in trials and maps its hard to get them to work(never worked well for me atleast)
counter, strength / wis breakdef and hit are more useful in maps and trials ( correct me if i am wrong)
conclusion : dodge is superior if it works other wise block is better :P

Sorry but you did not answer the question, my question was not which is better it was a question about how chance is programmed in the game regarding block and dodge. good question, i would also like to knew mechanics. but what i can state for sure is that: block > d ...its hard to tell that one is better than other practically
theoretically dodge is better for pvp
getting block to work is easier than dodge so generally its considerd better by some
dodge is better if u can do it, if u cant, block is the next best thing ( in pvp)block is better in pvm

it is random, one is not dominent over other if ( u have the same dodge and block rate and ur opponent have same brek def and hit rate)
i dont know that much technical stuff.....to put it into numbers

If not we can Always experiment and find out ourselves.
What you need for experiment:
- 2 main both with as little damage as possible and good defense stats so they last 20 rounds
> 1 with no break defence and no hit rate modifiers
> 1 with 75% dodge 75% block (or another convient number, obviously the higher the number the easier to spot the possible overlap, do make sure both dodge and block are equal)
Do 10 arena fights and post how many hits there were, block and dodge. Than it should be easy to know how exactly the odds are and if there is overlap. Also we might find out about hidden mechanics :3 Masqurane replied at 2015-5-2 08:27 static/image/common/back.gif

I think you are trying to bring theory here, sadly it does not quite work in game. You have titles that give up to 20% hitrate and also can refine equipment for hitrate. As for break defence, the highest title amount is either 4 or 5% and you cant refine set for break defence.
So it is easer to surpass dodge with hitrate than block with break.
But anyway im more interested in (number formula) than statements.. its probality bro.. u cannot predict it in formulas, its random..
