Keep your team more balanced in terms of damage. If the rest of your formation out damages his formation by far, you will perform a lot better in events and gain more exp and silver in the long run and eventually surpass him.
Also if his guild won the defense in seireitei they get 30% exp from stages. (Which I'm assuming cause of that level gap) He won it the 1st day bcz I didn't have the red guy in that day.. but now I can't destroy the defence..
