ok here's the thing. put same gear on these char;
Tenjiro Kirinji with Agility 5000 (Growth 5.2)
vs
Kirio Hikifune with Agility 3500 (Growth 5.3)
guess what, hiki are slightly faster than kiri. that Growth 0.1 extra really matter.

From experience, characters with higher growth rates have had notably better stats, so I can't really argue it's wrong to make that assumption.

nah it's either one piece or one punch.
I have conducted some tests and everything is indicating that the growth rates arre a simple arithmetic progression(AP), like the reiatsu, that is multiplied by the value showed in the char grade. Ex: ganju STR growth is 1.1, so he multiplies the defaut AP by 1.1.
