which one better overall? and why?

People will probably choose Yama, coz of his skill, but I'd prefer Hakuteiken Byakuya because of his speed and combo.Yama is slow as hell, and Hakuteiken Byakuya even reduces 10% or 5% speed of your opponents.
That helps, a lot.

Yama is as fast as Hakuteiken with his mods (1 & 4)
And from his evo & mods he's got the best damages

Nope.
Not as fast.He only gets 16350 from evo.

agree. yama SLIGHTLY slower than haku bya but his dot damage really helpful.
but dont forget R. Ulquiorra have that too plus with recover his own Fury by 38 points.
man this is tough especially when you only need 1 of them!

4k speed is like ridiculous... 10% FINAL speed is awesome
It means it increases the speed bonus from evo, hogyokus, hollow soul maps ...

This is a hard one, all 3 are good so I would make the pick based on what team comp you have.

If you intend to get Noza; Res. Ulq. is the way to go for that extra block rate, plus you can use soul cult to get stones instead and use Challenge stones for Shura or White Ichigo.

Yama has the best growth by a tiny margin over Byakuya, Res. Ulq. has pretty bad growth.

Skill wise I'd say they are pretty equal, it depends on what you want.

no guys belive me ulquiorra is the best one  cuz off the 170% damage  and cast 3 burn damage   and if activate the 5th mod  35%crit rate hes beastly . and dont forget the fury he gets

has everyone here forgot about Byaukua's 100% combo rate?  that more than accounts for the DOT he's lacking!!
Res is only good as bond for Noza
Yama is only good if your going for shura kenpachi from CSB
Byaukua is only good if your not willing to spend big money to get Koga/Mug/W Ichi/Yawech/Handsome Toshi/ect
