SWP -- Do we need first partner before getting the Upgraded version?

I'm not sure if this was answered or not; if it was, I forgot.

I'm thinking of building a funny PvP team, something along the lines of:

T1
Upgraded Toshiro & Upgraded Nel
for the PvP fights

I have absolutely no use for their first versions, and have been collecting their coupons.


The coupons are the same for both versions, so I was wondering if I'm able to redeem the upgraded partner directly, without having to redeem the weaker version?

or will I have to recruit the first before the upgraded versions?

sadly, you need to get their first versions before you can get their upgraded versions :/

well now... that pushes my funny fights back quite a bit =_=
And later on it might not even work as funny ... our hit rates are already eclipsing 200%...
