There's other reasons too, hell they might even be using that as an excuse so they don't reveal their actual problem

people get busy, I don't think they literally quit due to just "I can't compete anymore" COMPLETELY, thought it can be a factor for them leaving

people just take shit differently eh?

I was in a server that hadn't merged, I was permanently rank 3, and once I was offered first place just to get achievement but I declined and once servers merged I dropped to rank 10-15, I don't regret at all, and neither should anyone, playing games isn't about winning and being the best, its about the adventure and enjoyment.
