Do you always need to have a vanguard or is there a way to have a team w/o a vanguard? I want to have a team of shinigami Kensei, my character, cute orihime, shinigami Yoruichi and tenjiro.

well that depends on if you want your entire assault line to get fucked up by basic attacks, if you don't mind that or think you can stay so much faster and stronger than anyone, then you should go for it

I would highly suggest a VG, they're just way more practical

Yea you will need a vangurad for pvp and pve, but for events like evil spirit I take out my vanguard and make my team a 0-3-2.

a vanguard is needed for pve but in pvp you can pretty much go with what team you want,if you are hicgh vip and have t1 then you are gonna rkt people!

If you're strong enough, you can take your vanguard out for pve since evil spirit does basically no damage and ryoka don't really do huge damage until after wave 50. For PvP you should only go with no vanguard if you can destroy everyone you face on turn one, otherwise it's just not practical. Also you WILL need a vanguard for Hollow Souls fights.
