Yeah, after they changed it.... If you bought these things with pure gold before that, you're SOL.
Like me...

And I bought both Home upgrades since no one else at the time had...
Though I personally find it quite rewarding. Level 25 Destroy the World (final skill) and over halfway through to upgrading to the 7th girlfriend.
