Name and clan changing costs gold. I didn't have enough gold and tried to buy name change with coupons and said that I'd need gold.

Yeah, the name and clan change cards are gold items only.

I was debating myself what to do because I didn't know how I was going to get Rangiku due to lack of space, but then I just accidentally hired her and my space went to 15/14.

They do but because you get them as hired they don't go into your inventory, but straight into your team so they force your team's space to get bigger.

unfortunately it's only gold, makes sense since it's such a unique thing and you can't get it from anywhere else (unlike stones where you can get from events and for free) ^^

I wasn't wrong, neither was I right, because you can't access the info of it being vip requirement without being below 5. :3
