I'm fairly sure that you aren't able to lower their defenses.
I can in no way prove this, but that has been the general consensus of the entire forums for months when this question comes up.
I'm specifically talking about ES.

What Mylar said is correct. While you "can" give them a lower defense debuff, it will do absolutely nothing because PvE targets such as ES do not have any defense value to begin with.author: Lelouch71 time: 2016-1-13 17:19:35
You can't on ryoka/ES. That's why we don't use 2nd skill and use 9th or 8th skill
