Though the scale is much bigger, it's like choosing between offense and defense. Koma is all defense while Shinji is all offense. However, in order to make shinji survive long enough to do his damage, you would have to super stack him, which isn't recommended. With Koma, you don't have to put much into him and he will be pretty tanky. Shinji is a glass cannon, however he does little damage with f2p so he's just a glass jaw. Koma is your best choice IMO.

Shinji coz you will have a harder time stacking stones on him and hes trash compared to starrk so you will spend 1k gold reishi for nothing
and btw you should stay with sado and wait for stark or hollow ichigo only buy koma if you have a lot reishi but buying harribel instead of a vanguard is much better since you will be practically unbeatable

If you are going for t1 you should buy harribel replace her with yoruichi buy kisuke at lvl 80 and replace with rukia (its a risky choice becouse yoru is a really popular partner and most of lvl 70 players are buying her to dominate other yoruichi harribel combos)
Another thing to do is buy koma around lvl 80 and keep sado to level up koma,when he is leveled up to main partner level you just switch out equipmet from sado

You will have a 2-2-1 formation:

kisuke (T1)    main (10th,8th skill)
                                    koma (super tank,aid)
harribel (stun)  shin grim (dmg,laceration)

I used ganju until lv70 and switched to komamura lol xD

if you're F2P, go for defensive VG only
Koma and then HIchi @lvl110 / in between and only if you have lots of gold reishi, Nnoitra could be of some help

well... indeed... now with that F****G UBP, F2P have the same stuff as P2W, so... yeah, even Starrk can be of some use nowadays

p2w players will always win against vip 0 because they will be buying op partners.
