Do socket slots get reset when advancing ultimate gear through shutara's shop? Only thing I know is spirit lvl and enhancements go through

no, the only thing that will reset is the bonus attribute.

You keep everything except the refine, mind to re-refine again your gears once you advanced them.
Also, keep in mind that the required amount of socket stone for one hole increases with the gear (6 stones for two holes on Aquaria/Firelord, 12 for Dark/Blaze...), so the best is to fully socket your gears before you advanced 'em, if you don't, you are screwed for life.
