The reason i ask is that i've been browsing and posting a bit over the past few days and yet to see a single admin post or reassurance that bugs or updates are being done, is there another place that is more active to check for news and updates that someone can point me to?

admin posts - you will see in the Official section if they need to post any
reassurance for bugs - was never mentioned anywhere that they would fix all bugs or notify about updates
any other place to check for news/updates - No
