I'm seeing a lot of different information and ideas being thrown out out here. It would be helpful to know who are the definitive characters to get from tavern to upgrade to red that would be most helpful in pve and or pvp. I don't want to go wasting my resources especially since the time and silver to upgrade them is so high.

kenpachi, ikkaku, and quincy u are all good PVE assaulters for sure
Kiuske is very nice to do if you rely on him for T1
H ichi or Starrk, are good for vangs for sure
gin and aizen for pvp control, or probably braggen would be nice for raw damage
