Barcelona Sign Atletico Madrid Midfielder for £24m

Barcelona have announced a deal to sign Atletico Madrid Turkey midfielder Arda Turan for an initial fee of £24million. The European Champions have reached a agreement with Atletico and the player, who will be ineligible to play for his new club before their transfer ban is lifted in January.

Turan scored 22 goals and provided 32 assists in four seasons with Atletico after joining from Galatasaray in 2011. Barca were banned from signing players in 2015 after being found guilty of breaching Fifa's rules on the transfer of players aged under 18.

The Signing of Turan, who has played 81 times for Turkey, is also complicated by their ongoing presidential election campaign. Turan leaves Atletico after 4 years, during which time he won the Spanish title and reached the final of the Champions League. The 28-year-old is Barca's second summer signing following the transfer of Aleix Vidal from Sevilla.
