So when I uh start my account today, should I get kensei? Or save for uh berz renji

wait for Christmas events first to see what they have for us, maybe senjumaru will be released by then and she could be cheap so you don't wanna miss her, other than that Shini kensei if you focus only on PvP and B.renji if you want Pve and some PvP ( brute force style )
Even though i recommend Hiki more than shini kensei but it's your choice

I was gonna get hikifune, i have enough to get all the chars in the turntable. I just didn't know if it would be best to wait ;o But thanks! I'll see what will be here next event first.

waiting is always the best option for the following reasons
1- characters might get cheaper
2- new characters might be released
3- new events might be worth spending on might be released
4- nothing is lost if you wait
so it's better to be patient and watch the flow of the game, your server, your csb and decide who will server you better for the long term

That's just what i learned from staying around 1000 hours on the forums xD
even though i still give some incorrect advises sometimes but some of what i say is correct xD
Anyway like i said just watch what you are missing the most in your server ( PvP weaknesses and PvE)
and remember PvE>PvP
