It may be, or it may not be. There is several cases of this.
And if it is defense, I would not call it useless. For one I wouldn't bother upgrading him. But whatevs.

Won't call it useless when a Kido user is using his 10th skill on you and that defense either saves your ass for having it, or doesn't, for not having it.

Is useless in almost every case, that 5% mod won't have nearly enough effectiveness to save him from being one shot by the 10th skill.

Yeah, not if he is way higher BP. But if he is lower than you, or equal. You'd be surprised. I'll eek out every little bit of defense I can get, at any level.

If he is lower than you in BP, you should be able to have more agi than him to one shot him first, so it rarely makes a difference, but hey - having more defense is useful in PvE at-least.

And i got a mod for renji mainly because, its a bit of free damage, since i will not be getting Kepnachi for a while still, to replace Renji, seeing as i am lv87 and as i would need 2700 reishi.

Defense helps in PvP to btw, incase you wasn't aware. Not sure if you know how all that works, but I'm to tired to go into great detail explaining it. To each his own I say, I could care less what the low BP's do to themselves when they don't take advice from higher players.

Anywho, good luck with Renji. Thank god you moved on from Ichigo. Atleast you listened to that.
