Does manually lowering your battle power influence Hueco Mundo Opponents?

I've seen some people mention this but it was heavily disputed. Does anyone know for a fact?

when you register day 1 your position is calculated based on bp. after that it is based on points. so registering day 1 bp maters. other days no.
