Suggestions.

Hey guys, Ragnos here asking you some important questions.Right now Dreadnought Interactive is divided between ideas. This pertains to how we are going to make money to get better software, pay staff, and better equipment. One half of the team says that we should sell our products, while the other half suggests that we make the game for free and allow donations to be given.
Since it's kind of an even fight, and I am also divided between these ideas. My decison on the matter will make it final, so I want to ask you guys what you think on the matter?

yeah that's a good idea but as i said when you talk about business then first thing you talk about is your budget , so basically if he dun have a good budget he can't get enough popularity from donations fast and after his money is no more then popularity will decrease as i said all is relative

Its better to start with donation option.....once u gain enough popularity u can resort to  strategies which  are more profit oriented.
Do add special content for those who donate.( may be keep donation points to categorize as bronze/silver/gold)
or add something in game for the top donators ( name something after them, or add bonus lvls for them)
and may be provide demos of products u want to do later on based on profit to donated member.

Let's say... Heads = Pay & Tails = Donate

If at the outcome of the coin toss, you have any hesitation about result, you instinctively wanted the other option, so you go with that.. If you are good with what came up, then that's what you instinctively wanted..

How about donations w/ the added bonus of something extra if you donate?
Maybe make it a bit more cosmetic like an outfit or a pet - w/e.

Some of the other stuff i mess around with do that like they will either release a special episode or chapter or something.

well making game for free and and giving donations is a very good idea but it needs a lot of money to continue managing a game without a gain you know , well in the other side we talk about selling products which give a gain even if not a total one but it's not really gaming anymore so thinking about business and gain of money and managing i can give 2 possibilities :
1- if you have a big budget and want to be nice not gain money go for 2nd option
2- if you want to get a gain and building a business go for 1st it all depends on situation , as einstein named his theory relativity , that is relative too
