Zanpakuto phase effects

Can someone explain this to me cause i am kinda confused. Do I get the bonus effect by just activating the phase(like getting all to lv 10 e.t.c), owning the character indicated,using the character and zanpakuto in my formation or a combination of all 3. I really dont ant to get a character i wont use

The bonus effect only applies to the partner it is shown for. For example a Hyorin that has all 3 to level 10 will provide a 5% defence bonus at the end of every turn to the vanguard toshiro, no one else. Also just to be clear, yes it does stack. So at the end of the 5th turn toshiro's defense will have increased by 25%

Thanks. Damn that sucks for me, was aiming for sode but i only have base rukia, haineko(got rangiku van) sucks so i guess my options are use suzumebachi(shin yoru), just ignore the effects or wait till i get the aizens and get muramasa

I'd suggest either ignoring it until you get mura with the aizens, or for now go with suzumebachi with shini yoru. When you couple the fact that her skill keeps her alive pretty long with the fact that at final tier she'd be getting an extra 10% attack bonus a turn, that would turn her super deadly. And Suzumebachi's not a half bad zanpakuto either so that's a bonus.
