So at some point I want a new assaulter (Mine sucks) and i've brought it down to Sternritter Uryu or HVI.
Any thoughts as to which would be better, and the reasons why?

Biggest plus is no fury for normal skill, massive dmg, ignore def, shield and he is faster

Sternritter Uryu is cool and all has good sides like ( increases own Avoid Injury Rate by 15% -accumulatively), Additionally increase ignore Defense and Crit Damage by 40% (When Muken Aizen in battle, it will simultaneously increase the same effect for him), Ignores enemies' Invincibility and decrease all enemies' max HP by 30% (Effect stays after death).

Both have control issues but  HVI for me is far harder to beat and the shield saves him from control effects I can stun uryu easily

I would say HIV since he is a powerhouse of damage, plus he doesn't need fury to skill. So even if you go up against Tsukishima you can still dish out a lot of damage. Plus his shield makes him tanky and ignore def put a relief on early levels of spirit stones. Also, another FYI when HIV blocks an enemy attack he releases skill so THAT'S A LOT OF DAMAGE.

Both have some advantages, but HVI's negatives are bigger than Uryu's.  If your HVI is strong enough, he can easily 1-shot your team when he gets chaosed.   He also cannot hit through invincibility.  His shield can sometimes save you, but you are relying on RNG.  He is great for PVE though and doesn't require fury stones.  PVP he can be good against some teams, but can be a liability against others.

Uryu doesn't have those weaknesses and he makes the enemy team start with -30% hp.  If you opponent has low hp supports, it increases the chance of your supports killing them before they can do anything or leaving them easy pickings for the rest of your team or dots like RJ's burn.

Depending on your strategy, if u want in the future to go 2-3-0 with muken +sternritter go for it. If u want to go for HVI is best to have it with Kokuto+BwB.
Both have easy bonds to do, I was stuck in the same question, but will go with HVI+Kokuto+BwB+K.Ginjo. The Idea of combining Muken and Stern can be good for future references, but a lot of resources dumped on them, to make both effective. If u have a lot of resources go for Stern+Muken w/o vanguard, HVI is faster than Sternritter so u might take that into consideration. A combo with Yukio for -speed can easily make your HVI hit before their supps if u have him stacked some agi as i'll do. It really depends but I'll go with HVI.
