before he gets upgraded to D toshi, he really is incomplete. you have to have a way to drain fury from the assaulters as fury builders trump shin toshi, as do partners that regen 100 fury (see SWP Grim and 7 day ichigo) if the enemy has 100 or more fury, they skill, if 99 or less, they look at you funny and wait around. After he upgrades, he reduces 10 fury on them as well, which rounds him out very nicely. however, if your just planning on having him till 80, if you don't have the VIP or desire to upgrade him, or just need a temporary space filler, I'd skip him as shin toshi is less than harribel IMHO who is he replacing? who else is in your line up? What is your formation? What all zanpactos are you deciding between? What other partners you have to choose between? VIP level? Lots of things go into determining which partners to go for.
Cut dry answer: If your just looking at Shin Toshi, not D toshi, I'd skip him as he has too many flaws to work around for me. If your looking to upgrade him to D toshi, and have a way to take care of enemy supports as well (shini Kiseke works nice here BTW or tavern Yourichi/Aizen) he is a viable partner. As for PVE, he's not really good IMO, as from the tavern they have much better partners to be had for events (keiske, jushiro, hell, even Rukia trumps him IMO)
Side note: assuming your below level 80 from your post... till you get a good grasp on the game, a 1-2-2 formation is the easiest to play with. A smooth 80+% of your rewards from this game that you don't purchase with real dollars will come from your events, mainly Evil Spirit and Ryoka SWP Grim is a good partner for these. You should have 4 of the following partners up to your level or close to it, and don't go above level 6 evo on them as you will be replacing them.
SWP Grim, Renji (either tavern or Soo), Kensei (only if you already got yourichi as she is great in pvp and kensei isn't that big of a jump over renji), Rangiku, Rukia, Nanao, Jushiro, Kieske, even shunsui has his places, and isn't useless in pvp
For every Evil Spirit, and in Ryoka till probably wave 50ish you will want to pull out your vanguard and put in a third assaulter leaving you with a 0-3-2 formation, which is why I preach a 1-2-2 PVP formation for 95% of people. A high arena ranking and such do feel nice, but if your not in the top 3 places, PVE rewards MUCH better, and if you are at #1 in arena, chances are your also beating ass in the events too... if you can skip battles, sometimes you should watch them, see who needs what, what are your weak spots, and is it worth it to fix them. as some weak spots in PVP, can be strong spots in PVE. Unless your a big spender, or are in a weak server, you will not have a top shelf PVP formation, and a top shelf PVE formation. you will have to pick one to be your focus, and PVE nets more silver, stones, epic material chests, XP, ect... |
