Flash Player, R.I.P.? Or too soon?

We've probably all heard the announcements that Firefox will no longer support Flash Player due to all the security holes in the program. Never mind that it's always been buggy, but the only version of Flash that will be supported by any browser will be the Chromium-friendly Pepper Flash. Ever since Adobe bought Macromedia, they've not provided a great deal of support or security for Flash Player.

I'm wondering if the devs are going to figure out a way to work around this challenge. I only know the information I am able to find about technical concerns, and I'm not that much of an expert on programming. If anyone has more up-to-date information concerning this, please share what you know.  I look forward to hearing what you have to say.
