I think i might have figured out how to pass the hyorinmaru stage in hard conquest of might on a consistent basis.  I believe that the final requirement is the damage done by Toshiro divided by the damage done by your main cannot be less than 1.  In other words, Toshiro has to do more damage than your main, irrespective of the other partners.  See my attached picture where my VG Ken did the most damage and yet I passed the stage.  If someone can confirm this theory of mine, it would be great.  Thanks!

when i tried once, toshiro did max damage but he got hit too and my main did no damage. i didnt win. when toshiro didnt get hit, did the max damage and main did no damage, i won.

not sure, but hope it works for everyone

and I did not touch any of other partners gears.
