It's because we got two types of physical weapons.
Most physical partners u will get are ghostblade and use that type of weapon.
it's to enable more strategic choices in classes too... For example the reason u pick kido would be for higher vip's that want event partners since most event assaulters are better than supports u wanna go 1-3-1 and then to not have to split spirit stones and gear on too many chars, u go kido for main.
Ghostblade/spiritblade can be for f2p or low vip since for pvp the tavern and swp gives u good supports for a 1-2-2 team.
The choice between Ghostblade and spiritblade is a choice between gear tactics. If u pick ghostblade it's because u can go all out on ghostblade gear with fortifying and infuse spirit and still be able to use it on your other assaulter when u get better gear on the one you focus on.
However the reasoning for picking a spiritblade would be that you will be able to get gear faster simply due to u not needing 2x ghostblade mats to forge them, but only 1x and then you wont waste the mats u get for spiritblade weapons.
In UN it's exactly the same, however there it's easier to get common mats and u spirit forge with the same mats, so there's more reason to go for the equal to spiritblade there than there is here.
