no it really works on VGs which is why its nice if urahara can 1shot supports

You sure? I doubt it works on vanguards. As for having aizen or yoro in hollow souls, I've gotten fine right now without them.  I'm at 1st guard tosen.  Don't know if aizen would be necessary from this point on, since I get along well with my fully modded gin and unohana.

and yes silence really does work on vgs

I have Shini Urahara and can confirm it does. Once supports die he silences vanguard.
