There is nothing wrong with giving up the gate a day or 2 for fireball reset anyways, I don't know ...
Everythingswrong,
In no way is the following meant to be a personal attack on anyone, it is not personal and NO ONE should take it that way. But I want to take a moment to explain why this is a problem. It is from the point of view of a player that either: a) cannot afford to become a high level VIP or b) is wary of dropping so much money into a game where the benefit to a few outweigh the enjoyment of all. I am going to use the metaphor of a marathon for this.
Suppose you are running a marathon. You are not fast and are near the back of the field. At the 41st km, a race official is there and hands you a finisher's medal and says, "We didn't feel like leaving the finish line open to wait for you, so here. Have a nice day." For those not familiar, a marathon is 42 km. You can see the finish line from there. Are you going to feel accomplished? And you going to feel like the goal you've been working towards has been achieved? No. You wouldn't. So when the defenders do that, what reason is there except to lord over the other players. "We gave you that win." If they don't like the fireballs, too bad. It is designed into the game to give new and low level players at least SOME hope of accomplishing something. What reason is there for the defenders, if they know they are going to lose because the fireballs are too strong, to not defend other than to pacify their ego? If you were running that marathon, would you be happy with that? If you've been beat down every day for 10 days, do you want to be "given" a win? No, you want to earn it. And this is one reason a lot of new or low level VIPs have left. I understand, the big VIPs are the ones that the game developers want. But 100 players spending $20 per month is a lot on one server. Does the one individual or select few surpass that? I am also reminded of a quote I heard once (I am not sure where I heard it, so if someone knows whom to attribute it, please feel free to let me know): I would rather sell 1,000 tickets at $1 each than 1 ticket at $1000.
So a problem that people have with a supposed PGM doing that is simple: the spirit of the game (maybe not necessarily the rules) are being circumvented to pacify those with a high VIP level and ruin the game even further for those that do not have VIP status or came in late to the server. I know of entire guilds that have closed up on US45 due to this being the straw that broke the camels back. We are simply asking that if someone is going to be in that position, they use it for the betterment of the game as a whole and not for the sheer enjoyment of a select few. Thank you. |
