That's exactly how it works. Micro-transactions are used for a reason.
Now I won't guarantee that it would bring a lot of players in the game, but it would certainly be A LOT more appealing to A LOT more players.

This games average player age is higher then you think.

but then there's the problem of all the players that topped up $200-500 to buy uber pixels, then have mentioned uber pixels at a reasonable cost, ya know.. like $5-50 like most games.

Yeah that's true. If the game had started out with reasonable prices it might have been bigger.
