True, Shounen action is more accurate. All I know is that it is generally accompanied by action. It's better suited to general tastes. My grandmother would probably watch it over any other genre I picked. I just like some crazy shit, haha.

As for what I recommend under action...

If you want a great action film/OVA, Hellsing Ultimate (not "Hellsing") is absolutely badass. It's not scary. Just some blood...A lot of blood. (It's vampires lol)

If you want to avoid a little blood and vampires, then Darker than Black is a must. I strongly recommend this one because it's just as badass.

The D.Gray-man anime is finally returning in 2016 after a long break due to the author's health problems. It is really unique one with some really creative art. It is almost a little bizarre. You'd have to see it to believe it. Anyway, the first half of the series suffers from filler overload, but the second half totally made up for it.

And then one probably nobody will mention in this thread: Symphogear. It's an action drama musical magical girl anime. (That's a mouthful). Girls who fight with ancient gear that is activated and controlled by sound frequencies (song). They fight to keep the world safe from the Noise that disintegrates humans on contact. Additionally, they have a special song that makes them super strong but can be fatal if used, allowing for some complicated sacrificial situations. It may not be for everyone, much like a lot of the anime I love. lol (-> See Higurashi no Naku Koro ni).
