I'm not sure because I havent used for unspecified reason, but if you have 100 frags for example for ulquiorra and you need 138 they'll work as extra fragments for that specific partner's modification

I'm not sure, and if they are what I think they are you should save them for a partner that requires immense amount of hard to get fragments.
