wait I don't understand that. so do you just select the stones from the shelf then refresh and they will be automatically yours? (well with the gold spent) Or do you have to flip over the shells again?Also do you have to only spend in the event or can you spend anywhere and get points for it?

What are the 4th of July events like? I played last year but I took a break for a while and over 4th of July so is it any good?

1. Select what you want (stones for example) and buy
2. Refresh the shelves
3. Click open all
4. Enjoy a bunch of shit plus 2x what you selected in 1.

to get points you must spend in the event

Hmm I see how it works now, takes a shit-ton of gold though, I see how it's great for getting your gold's worth, but not a good event to top up on , guess I have to wait for the stars to align and Reio's furnace, jackpot, and another extra gold event come up and hope I have enough spare money to spend to get something amazing. Thanks btw.

Its even good for topping up. You get value from 3 events.
Mystery Puzzle -> best for Hogu enhance talisman
Joint Task -> could be good at some of the days
Reio Furnace -> quite great for hogu enhance too, even better than mystery puzzle
And buying stones in annivesary feast is great too, half price as normal + u get extra stuff from the points.

True but for an event like anniversary feast you need a lot of gold and the only gold boosting top up event right now is Reio Furnace and that requires a lot of topping up, not just casual topping up even in terms of the heavy spenders.
