The differences between VIP levels for SWP are quite intersting between CN and here.
CN: VIP 1 for Nozarashi, 4 for Daiguren, 2 for Renji, etc
Here: VIP 5 for Nozarashi, 1 for Daiguren, 0 for Renji, etc

Just looking for some good insight on which vanguard to get at lvl 70.

I need to get more muedo points so pvp would be better for my play style.

Pve I dont really mind what it is. It says to get 3 assaults and 2 supports. Don't see why you would take your vanguard unless he does more dmg then naonao.

I have a lot of lvl 4 stones ready to be fused to high lvls. lvl 8 is recommended, couldn't I just grind/work my way to get the gems?

Might just get senji for the lolz. I heard dog is pretty broken/good.

for a lvl 70 recruit i suggest either komamura if you want a new vanguard, or yoroichi if you dont want a vanguard. kensei is bad so dont get. harribel is same as yoroichi(stats) but attacks assaulters. is still an alright character but i think yoroichi has better ability. shinji is alright, but if he is good with gems, komamura should be better with the same gems.
the 3 assault 2 support formation is for ryoka attacks and evil spirits events only

from what i heard there is no lvl120 partner in tavern, the only ones possible are the upgrades of zaraki swp and sss aizen but you'll need to be vip5/6
