To be honest, the grind for 6 months to get KS isn't that bad. I kinda regret spending 6 months to stack my D.Ichi after I got him when I was gonna get Muken anyways. I should have just balanced out my team or try to grab another partner.

The same in your case would be buying Jakka and building that up, then getting KS for free in 6 months. It is a waste of gold for something that will be replaced, when Gerard is certainly a VG to keep for a while. Once you get Muken, or if you have Muken, buffing his defense enough to last in void is pretty nice as having Muken survive another couple rounds would probably do more damage than the burn and mutilate Jakka gives.

Also, getting KS is only going to make your Muken even more OP with the Foritfy Bonus. I think it gives like 100 crit dmg bonus or like increase atk every turn or something OP like that.

As for the PvP aspect, if you aren't going to top up anymore, I would say KS + Muken + Gerard is going to be your best team as your Muken is going to be able to last the 5 rounds to activate his last mod due to Gerard's buffs, whereas your TSI is going to die pretty easily late game to other high Vips and you will be using a Jakka + Muken combo. Most high end partners are immune to mutilate anyhow, or they will have someone to clear debuffs like KS.

I'm speaking out of my ass tho, so these are just my opinion to help you form yours

Win or lose, at least my vang will look shitty in The process!!   Plus, nobody can really say I'm copying their asses!!  Besides, everyone with half a brain should see that Valkyrie is the perfect counter to RJ much less if I can pick up Minizuki at the same time, lol

Why not kukaku (if available)?

She simply does not have the damage output to justify pulling TSI for her...  She is much more defensive but I can't swap many/any of her mods without taking away a huge chunk of her swag. I need more damage output, and Valkyrie should be able to get his block about where my TSI is at, plus Gerard is of course just an animal when compared to TSI. Plus he is immune to mutulate which should nip many Jakka teams in the ass as jakkas burn doesn't hurt when Jakka hits for a few hundred total, plus Gerard gives defense rebuff, which should cancel Jakkas def boost, leaving me to deal with a mild burn from all but the strongest
