Buying Characters

Hi, as i am new to the game, i would like to ask whats the best event to buy an character?
As of now im running:
Kukaku, Hikifune, B.renji and smart nanao.
I have 50k gold to spend, so i would like to know which event i should be looking out for,

holiday events, probably Christmas if i'm honest

if they have one you like, IMO Anniversary Feast gives fantastic rewards

yeah, it's not a good event to get him from, however I'd wager you will have plenty of times to get him in the near future for MUCH less gold

And we don't have byakuya released yet and while surfing forums i saw that some people spent ridiculous amount of gold to recruit him from this event.
