its not necessarily spend 20k gold, in the lucky bags, there is a slot for "red bag", not sure whats in them but very likely pts for the pt shop or even gold if they are feeling generous

I'm pretty sure it's not 20k gold, more likely it's 20k points. I wouldn't hurry myself to criticize these events just as yet. Some did for xmas which was a very very good event. For this, probably it's not as good as others but I'd say still good.

Yes, that part of the event lasts 10 days. However, there are events outside of this (including the top-up part of the New Year Feast) that last 5 days. Now I must wonder what they are going to switch them out with.
