Oh, you didn't notice? There was an event 2 times (something with anniversary in the name), that gave 2 "top-up cards". using these during bankai power allows the card's user to claim the 888 gold from bankai power, when the group top-up condition was met.
So yeah, all in all, I actually gained more than 3k gold (4x888 + maybe some extra gold from additional events), just already used a bit of it :D.
