I can't give you a REAL answer, but I can give you what I THINK would be the answer? Deal?
ATK covers both, strategy attack and physical attack. I THINK strategy attack gets calculated into things such as immunity and defenses, for a vanguard for instance. I THINK strategy atk comes into play even if the partner is not a kido user, which is who strategy atk is mainly for. But, considering this game is built on a system that pits a certain type of character against another (kido vs ghost vs spirit blades) there has to be something that factors their overall damages. Kido is effective to both spirit blades and ghost blades, bcuz they are physical damagers. But what about the relation between spirit blades and ghost blades? They can't simply be more immune to each other's damages because they're *supposed* to be different. But they can't just be different, can they... They have to be *difficult*
I THINK strategy atk for your physical damagers is calculated into your defenses. I do not now how. I can almost guarantee, though, that strategy atk for a physical damager WILL affect damages to another physical damager.....? Make sense to you? I mean, how else would a Ghost blade another physical defense-heavy partner?? I'm guessing that, with Renji for instance, boosting his strategy atk would or *could* possibly give him a slight advantage over a physical damager's physical defenses by having a higher strategy attk than theirs....
