If you read Kosmik's post that will address part of your post. He is correct in both the fact that I obtained most of my non-crafted gear for free, and that I did indeed get 'screwed' during the switch over of gear available in slots. If you look at my gear, you will not see any full sets of "gold" gear (like the stuff from the Ultimate Arsenal / Reio), because I have never bought a set of gold armor. Admittingly I did spend 80g once in slots because I was 10pts shy of getting a piece.
But here lies the single greatest problem with your post.....where did I ever say I won it F2P? The answer is no where. I never claimed that. I said that I beat it with Tavern partners only, no gold partners. Which would exclude Hyrorinmaru, as that is a Zanpakuto, but for all intense purposes could be considered a 'partner', but I clarified that I did have that and that I recognized that he cost gold...unless of course you got him in UBP, which he was in UBP, so therefor you could have potentially had him for free too.
To further clarify, I believe that the hollow map can be beat as a F2P. I'm not claiming that I did it, I just claimed that I did it without any big ticket items. Like I didn't drop $500 for a Mugetsu or Tense Zangetsu, or a brand new Red partner etc., I was simply saying "Hey, look I beat Hollow Map and did it with tavern partners", and furthermore I did it with crap gear (compared to most mid-high lvl VIP's).
Also on the topic of gear, only two of my characters (out of 5) even had non-crafted gear, and one of them was wearing level 100 gear.
And to top this off, which I mentioned before, I completed this without having/utilizing my 365 day sign in bonus. I could have easily selected a STR Treasure, spent my saved Talismans on it, and instantly sent my Starrk's power through the roof (both for defense and offense), and that would have still all remained F2P.
So while I never made the comment that you mention in your post, I would stand by the statement that hollow map can be beaten by F2P, it just probably would take a few extra weeks-months. And also, your comment about gold bought sets, was entirely inaccurate, Kosmik's post accurately reflect the gear's origin. I plan things out months in advanced and spend months towards working on goals, I obtained a fair amount of those pieces you see 1 or 2 pieces at a time, all of which can be obtained for free as a F2P, with a little bit of planning and sometimes a little bit of luck.
Thank you for your gratz, I appreciate it, I certainly put as much work into beating this challenge as any F2P ever will, I just was able to finish it a little bit quicker because I spent a few bucks on the game here and there. I wanted to provide some inspiration that hollow map can be beat, with regular tavern partners, with regular gear (obtainable via F2P), through careful strategy and determination. |
