Katen vs Ryujin

Is there any situation in which Katen would be better for a formation than Ryujin? Say, for example, someone who uses zero division partners? I'm gonna get one of them and I was dead set on Ryujin but now doubting myself since I have Senju and Hiki.

Katen will probably output more damage than Ryujin assuming you have the necessary fury for it. A lot more damage for evil spirit and ryoka. Would probably make hollow souls easier as long as you can win the solo fights. The only pure downside of katen is void region and if a ryujin user is faster than you.

Even if the Ryuujin user is slower, they can still make up with it in defense with Kukaku, allowing Ryuujin to skill anyway. However, that depends on what kind of people you are fighting.

well if a katen goes first you would assume to one bang someone, otherwise you have a very weak support.

I think I would go with ryujin. Katen only gives you a beast of a first hit because of the increase in crit by 80% and crit damage by 160%  (both 1 round.)
While ryujin gives a stack of igniote 30%(3 rounds) and mutilate 14% (3 rounds) + 25% attack for assulters (3 rounds) and 150% increase in deffence for all(2 rounds)
Also, ryujin gives more speed to support then katen. And i'm not sure if the growth rates are the same or not.

Bottom line is katen is good to get that 1 hit kill in with no back up if you don't.
With ryujin you should get more speed and if you can't kill them in the one hit, the increases in d will help.

I also think the skills for ryujin would yield more damage in reoka and es. 1 round is 1 round period. so even if you get extra hits they don't come with a second round of the critical boost, either of them. while ryujins mutilate, ignite and assulters damage increase are still in play.

So since I have Kukaku, she'd be OP with RJ as zanpakuto?

He means if the other team is faster than you and you have Kukaku, she still buffs Kido defense as a passive, so your team is partially covered by her then they get even more defense when RJ uses skill.
