I still don't understand about the 8th/9th skill for PVE events. I'm using Zabimaru and I heard that that buff from that and 9th skill will override the buff from Zabimaru. So wouldn't it be better to use skill 8 to get the combo rate and the the buff from Zabimaru?

NO u have the worng information , 9 th skill is better for zabimaru.
Zabimaru increases damage rate (10% increase for the whole team)  where as mains skill   increases attack (15% for assulters).

buff problem occurs only when u use sogyno kotwari with mains 9th  skill since both increase attack
