Hello I wanted to write a 2nd guide focusing on the basics of my first, because after you know what each attribute does and how to raise it you should know which you actually want. i will go into this by order of apperance.

Attributes

The Assaulter:

Ghostblade and Spiritblade attacks both use the Strengh attribute to increase their damage.
The importance of attributes in my oppinion is the following for the Ghostblade, Spiritblade main and most Assaulter:
PVE & PVP: Strengh (Physical ATK/Physical DEF), Agility (Speed), Hit Rate, Break DEF Rate, Crit Rate, Stamina(HP), Strategy DEF, Counter Rate

Kido uses the Wisdom attribute to increases their damage.
The importance of attributes in my oppinion is the following for the Kido main:
PVE & PVP: Wisdom (Strategy ATK/Strategy DEF), Agility (Speed), Hit Rate, Break DEF Rate, Crit Rate, Stamina(HP), Physical DEF, Counter Rate

If your Assaulter has a skill that hits the Assaulter or Supporter line, Crit Rate becomes more important than Break DEF Rate!

The job of Vanguards is to take as many hits as possible, that is why you want to focus on defencive attributes, but there are rare Vanguards that have very offencive skills that is why I will split it in 2 categories, basically if your Vanguard has a skill that attacks more than the enemy Vanguard then he can be considered an offencive Vanguard, if the Vanguard only attacks the other Vanguard with his skill and also boosts his defence then it is a pure defencive Vanguard.
Keep in mind that unless you have a Zanpaktou that does not affect the Vanguards Damage Rate the offencive power of a Vanguard is very limited and I advice to use a pure deffencive Vanguard, pure deffencive Vanguards also tend to perform better in PVE.

Pure DEF: Stamina(HP), Strategy DEF, Physical DEF, Counter Rate, Hit Rate, Block, Dodge Rate, Strengh (Physical ATK/Physical DEF), Agility (Speed)
Offencive Van: Strengh (Physical ATK/Physical DEF), Stamina(HP), Strategy DEF, Physical DEF, Counter Rate, Hit Rate, Block, Agility (Speed), Dodge Rate

Speed might grow in importance depending on how important it is to use the Vanguard's skill, but most of the time it is fine if the Vanguard is your slowest member, but an offencive Vanguard might want to use his attack befor the opponent's Vanguard for the maximal effect.

The Supports are as the name says there to support your team, there are healers, buffers, debuffers, most don't focus on damage alone. They are very fragil but usually very fast and fairly safe in the back line. Usually you want these to be the fastest in your group, unless they are very strong healers, then you want to heal after your team took some damage to get the maximum potential. In that case ajust the speed to match your opponent and how much damage you can take. Another special case are Supports that raise the Fury of teammates you want to use those skills after your teammates used their skills so they can use their skill again faster, so make sure that they attack last, but in general you can stick to this:

PVE: Wisdom (Strategy ATK/Strategy DEF), Agility (Speed), Hit Rate, Break DEF Rate, Crit Rate, Stamina(HP), Physical DEF, Counter Rate
PVP: Agility (Speed), Wisdom (Strategy ATK/Strategy DEF), Hit Rate, Break DEF Rate, Crit Rate, Stamina(HP), Physical DEF, Counter Rate

Agility is expecially important for stuns, you want to make sure that these attack first!

Formation

After going over which attributes to focus on each individual partner lets look at some group setups. As your rank rises you will be able to use 5 partners, max 1 Vanguard, 3 Assaulters or 3 Supports. Which gives you different setup possibilites. I will try to go over the pros and cons of each formation.

1 Vanguard, 2 Assaulter, 2 Supports or "1-2-2" is the most balanced and easiest to archive setup, you will do a decent number of Physical Damage but also good Strategy Damage, granted your main is also a physical attacker.

Pros:
- balanced, good Physical and Strategic ATK/DEF
- not very expensive (gold for Spirit Stones)
- easyer to forge and upgrade gear, because of the mix of weapons
- high diversity of posible combinations

Cons:
- weaker than specialized setups
- does not benefit as much from specialized Zanpaktou (either Speed+Atk for Assault or Support)

1 Vanguard, 3 Assaulters, 1 Support or "1-3-1" has some of the highest pure damage, you could say it is a very brutish formation.

Pros:
- high offencive strengh
- high Physical DEF
- benefits from Assault boosting Zanpaktou
- good in most PVE
- still a very big selection of good partners
- benefits alot from healing or buffing supports
- takes less damage from block- very good damage against Supports

Cons:
- very expensive if main is Spirit or Ghost Blade (gold for Spirit Stones)
- weak to Strategic ATK
- weak against Physical DEF (other 1-3-1 setups or strong Vanguards)
- less damage against Vanguards

1 Vanguard, 1 Assaulter (main), 3 Supports or "1-1-3" is very interesting, because it could be considered the fastest and most annoying or the hardest hitting formation depending on which partners you chose.

Pros:
- high Strategy DEF
- Benefits from Support boosting Zanpaktou
- good in most PVP
- many different combinations of debuffs
- very fast
- skills that can control the fight
- very good damage against Vanguards and Assaults

Cons:
- very very expensive if main is Kido (gold for Spirit Stones)
- very hard to upgrade gear if main is Kido
- only Strategy ATK if main is Kido
- very bad against strong Strategy DEF or opponents that avoid/remove debuffs
- take more damage from block
- mostly very skill dependant
- very weak against Assaulters that can attack the Support line with skills

There are 2 very special formations that the "normal human" should not worry about, because it is very expensive to pull of or only good good for daily events and requires a very specific setup to be used in PVP, those are 0-3-2 and 0-2-3, formations without a Vanguard! Basically you can forget using these in most PVE other than daily events (Evil Spirit/Hyoka Attack), in those it does not matter and will help you since you will do more damage even without anything special about your team, but I want to focus on PVP here!
To use these formations in PVP you need to clear 2 prerequisites:
#1 you need to be able to have 100% Fury the first turn for all your characters, which can either be done with a ton of Fury Spirit Stones on all characters or with a bit less Furry stones on a Partner that then gives Fury to the team, which after that has enough Fury
#2 you need to be faster than your opponent
These formations throw away all defence for offence and win by killing their opponent within 1-2 turns max, but the first prerequisite can only be cleared if you are willing to spend alot of money on it and the second is only slightly cheaper.

I hope this guide helps and wish everyone good luck and fun with the game ^^ ...if you have something to add or change about it I'm happy to discuss it with you and edit, since most of this is based on my experience and oppinion and I might overlook something, also ask as many questions as you want!

Very nice guide, able to let readers get a clear mindset.

There will be another type of vanguard in higher lv. The aid type.
They increase either your assaulter or supporter aid rate using their skill.
Which can protect your teammates from being killed.
Aid is not simply sharing dmg by two parties. It reduce damage significantly.

Your zanpakuto strength decide your formation.
1-2-2 is actually the easiest formation to get a suitable zanpakuto in later stage.
There are Kazeshini (free), Shirayuki (10000 gold), Zangetsu and Sogyo (Both from event) for 1-2-2.

Most economic formation is 1-2-2.
Using 1-3-1 or 1-1-3 meaning you need to prepare another set of spirit stone and weapon for pve dailies. As, pve dailies best formation is 0-3-2.

I didnt see anyone excluded their vanguard during pvp so far.
For those able to start with 100 fury points, they should be able to get some imba vanguards from events or comrade contract's Ikkaku with Hyorinmaru.
