That is a general statement, so yes, they would be giving bad advice, as it has been effective and still is effective.
Mayuri chose a natural blocking partner new so good stats. Of course you are going to deal high damage, you can pull of blocking and surviving 20 rounds with many other partners without Mayuri and but build that partner the same way Rofl, it is a super stack partner with block of course they are successful, but in the meantime even I beat it. Read what I say before, if player want unique experience they will ask for it, if want general advice for being better, then they expect this, not different. Why give them unique experience if not going to help in any way for future compare to what they could get.

mainstream options are rarely bad, but also just as rarely, are they the only way around a problem...
And I never say this too. Just because there is more than 1 way around a problem, does that make it better? No. I say again, something is "mainstream" for a reason, that is because it is actually good or the best you can do at the moment. Mayuri going off mainstream was not the best and nothing good, it is the result of a super stack red partner who work with blocking, something other partner can also do now with changing mods
