If the money you mean is gold, save some gold (maybe 1k) for high lv (eg. lv70 or lv80) protection stone.
If you're willing to spend gold in cash shop to buy spirit stones, I would suggest to select a package in Uruhara shop (server 2nd week, cash event). And use the rebate coupons to buy the stones.
Other than these, save your gold for upcoming event (cash shop spirit stone is actually sell in a higher price, compare to certain events).

Yes, imo ichigo is quite useless.
Although some ppl may use him for pvp (hit assaulter, with Lisa).
But as long as your momo's speed is faster then them.
You can stun their assaulter before they do anything.

So yea, ichigo and his skill are useless.

can we go in to detail of the week by week cash events? and what replacement character is advisable for Ichigo?

Main, Ichigo
Inoue, Momo

Im rank 2 in my server, the rank 1 and I are both on par, he's on advantage in upgrades on Spirit Forged equips, at the moment he has lv 10-15 while I only have 5-7. Any tips on taking over?

Even Renji do better than Ichigo..
Week by week cash event is decided by publisher, I have no idea what will they release.
But, every week (start on week 3 or 5) they are some same events, such as rebate for every top up (10%~20%), some freebies if you top up certain amount, freebies for accumulated top up amount, freebies for daily top up.

Lv 58, the rank 1 is lv 60 but we are on par, depending on chances xD

Yes, enhancement lv does matter.. especially lv20.
It will be harder to compete if he get lv65 first.. due to kazeshini.

IMO best way is to get lv75 faster than him..
So you could have spirit forged lv70 sets and spirit fused your lv70 equips.

Lastly, spirit stones lv will also affect if you get higher lv.

Since pvp is affected by so many factors...
Besides, Str treasure benefit both Ichigo and Renji equally..
